Sierra Roots Volunteers ready at the Seaman's Lodge

 COLD WEATHER SHELTER

When the temperature drops into freezing zone, or successive cold rainy days, Sierra Roots has arranged to open an inclement weather shelter at Pioneer Park in Nevada City. In 2016-2017 we were open for 27 days over Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

January, 2018 we have opened for five days so far!

You Can See the Homeless People Everywhere

Singer/Songwriter Terry Worden shares the experience of when he showed up to work at the overnight cold weather shelter for the homeless folks in Nevada City, California, and was inspired by the way the community, led by Sierra Roots volunteers, served. He went home and wrote a song, "You Can See the People."
